FAQs

How long will it take to earn my private pilot’s certificate?

The FAA minimum requirement is 40 hours of flight time and the national average is 60-70 hours, however, each student will require a different amount of time to become a safe and proficient pilot.

You can best control your timeline with the frequency with which you train. We recommend training 2-4 times per week in order to complete certification in 4-6 months. Students following this schedule typically require fewer flight hours than a student who flies once per month. Budget approximately $21,000 – $30,000 to obtain your Private Pilot certificate via the Cirrus SR20.

What do I need for an introductory flight?

No training or commitment is required for an introductory flight! Be at the controls of the latest Cirrus SR20 for approximately 30 minutes over Austin with one of our friendly, experienced instructors.

What do I need to begin flight training?

To begin flight training you will need to submit proof of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate and driver’s license OR U.S. passport) and complete the AeroPro Flight Academy Rental Agreement and Training Procedures Agreement.

How soon can I fly solo?

Our flight instructors will continually monitor your progress and approve students to fly solo solely at their discretion. Typically within 25-30 hours of training students are proficient enough to conduct flights with little help from instructors – indicating they are ready for a solo flight.

How is ground school managed?

We encourage students to complete ground school online individually to find an efficient and affordable solution best suited for their needs.

What will this cost me?

The total cost of training will depend on how hard you study and how often you fly. For flight training, our standard rentals are broken down as follows:

Cirrus SR20 – $425/hour (wet)                                    Diamond DA42 Twin Star: $649/hour (wet)

Instruction: $75/hour

What are the requirements for solo aircraft rentals?

AeroPro requires that all Cirrus renters complete a cirrus flight training course or cirrus flight  review prior to rental. Training required depends on the renter’s level of certification and experience. All renters are required to complete a flight review 90 days after initial training and every 6 months thereafter.

Non-Owned Aircraft Renter’s Insurance is required for all solo rentals. Standard Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability Limits minimum required: $100,000 each person / $1,000,000 Property Damage and $1,000,000 each accident. Aircraft Physical Damage Liability Limits minimum limit: $250,000.
